Week 8

The Matrix

This is the second project I’ve worked on. What I did in this project was to adjust the camera. This project is from a classmate of VfX major. When I accepted their project, they had almost done it, and they needed an animation professional to help them adjust the camera. So I agreed to do them a favor, and I was running out of time because of the long time left to render. And all the cameras in this blog were adjusted by me within three days.

In fact, they finished building the model very early, but the classmates who agreed to help them with the materials did half of it and left, which caused a lot of confusion. Also I can’t make a camera for the model I’m doing the material on. This will result in two files, one is a file with a camera in my hand but no material, and the other is a file with a material on the opposite side but no camera. This will cause a lot of trouble, of course I can also export the camera, but because there are enough scenes, it is also very error-prone.

I asked them about the plot of this short and they said no. They just wanted to show off their very good modeling, materials, lighting, etc. They just wanted to do really cool special effects and didn’t focus on the plot. That’s why they take a very long time to render.

Week 6

This video is what I intend to use as a reference for my 2nd project. This video is about pigeons. My friend and I went out to see the museum to see the exhibition. We happened to meet a Christmas booth outside, so we bought hot dogs here. In the end, the hot dogs that could not be eaten were found by the pigeons, so Fly over to eat. This video is very interesting. And the overall length is about 45 seconds, the time is just right.

As I said in my blog before, because of the rapid development of motion capture technology, many animations of characters now use motion capture. The company I practiced at before did the same, and even many of the protagonists had facial expressions captured. So I want to try to do some motions that cannot be captured by motion capture technology at present, such as cats and pigeons, which is why I chose this reference for animation.

This cat reference is also an alternative that I was going to choose as an animation. This video shows my cat Moqi sitting on my dad’s PAD and never moving away. But my dad wanted to get a PAD, so teased him with a comma stick, trying to distract him and get these PADs. In the end, Moqi sat here and didn’t move away at all. On the contrary, the Pad was turned on because of his violent movements and was glowing, so the overall effect was very interesting.

However, my instructor told me that because the animation of my first personal project was going to be a cat, if the animation in this section continued to be a cat, it would cause duplication of content, so I crossed out this reference and chose to be a pigeon. that one.

Week 7

This section is the section where the first run receives the weapon, which just connects to the animation of the previous run. The difficulty is not high, you only need to modify it on the previous run.

Here’s the timeline for the animation where the weapon flies over. Since I haven’t received the scene so far, I don’t know where the weapon is flying from. So I also need to think more about the timeline. Frames 59-60 on the timeline are about the binding and unbundling of parents, so this section cannot be modified. 55~58 is the section where the gun is just caught. Because there is no scene, I am not sure how far the gun and weapon flew out, so if you need to wait for the scene to come out, you can directly modify the 25th frame.

Week 6

This video is the animation of the second fight. At present, only the basic big movements have been done, and some other details will take time to do.

This video is a bit more difficult than the previous fight, because the character has a lot of rotations and displacements and there is a gun-turning part in the middle. Compared with the previous video character, it is much more difficult to do it on a simple line.

The second difficulty is that the weapon is rotated, so part of the time is the left hand is close to the end of the weapon, and the other part is the right hand is close to the end of the weapon. But there is only one parent on each hand, so once you parent them to the weapon, it will be difficult to turn around, so I choose to flip the locator that has the rotation in the middle. So the front part is the gun and the direction of the outside box is the same, and the other part is reversed 180 degrees. This solves the problem very well.

In the end, it seems that the whole action is very smooth, there are no major defects in it, and the completion is very good.

Week 5

Week 5: Seminar and 1-1 support

Key summary:

•Part 1: We will finish the last 3 groups’ informal discussion and presentation

•Part 2: Group seminar & feedback session. For this activity to work, if you are in the same group then please don’t sit together, we will be doing a design activity to help you to take your project forward.

Summary of your work

  • What is it?

This is a story.

The martial god Ivy alone guards the artifact of his former comrade-in-arms (lover) by the sacred tree of the altar.

The cool water of the divine pool suppressed the soul of the spear, and the comrades-in-arms died in front of them and turned into this wisp of soul into their own artifacts, desperately trying to protect their own lovers. Even after many years of death, this wisp of soul does not forget the infinite intention of fighting and killing.

Ivy Looked at the restless spirits in the pool, full of sentimentality, and paced into the formation. The spear seemed to sense the call of its lover and began to emit a piercing beep. Yu Shi was touched by the love of his comrades-in-arms and decided to accompany the spear to dance for a while. With his right hand outstretched, the spear flew in.

What is its purpose?

Make a Chinese-style animated short with fighting

What are the key features?

Chinese style, with fighting embodies inheritance and a sense of fate.

Role assignments and group responsibilities?

I’m a 3D animation major, so I’m in charge of adjusting the animation, storyboards, and cameras.

What does the work aim to achieve?

Concept – what is its novelty?

This short film has battles and scenes, and there are many online novels that have been sold for copyright and 3D animations, almost all of which are in this style. So I want to make an animation with this.

What is driving the narrative? What is the development process?

There are characters’ battles and characters’ memories, and these two parts are interspersed with flashbacks to advance the story.

What is the practical scope of your research? – Think about how your knowledge and skillsets compliment your collaborators’

I have experience working in a 3D animation company and know how to do 3D animation and storytelling, so I can use this knowledge to help my peers make 3D animations. And my mates will help with what they know about rigging, modeling, lighting, and work on the whole thing together.

Target users/audience

Who is the work aimed at?

Mainly young people like me want to be a hero.

What aspects of the work have been chosen due to this?

I’m a 3D animation major, so I’m in charge of adjusting the animation, storyboards, and cameras.

Why have you chosen this target user/audience demographic?

Technical

What techniques are you and your collaborators employing to achieve your goal?

The main software used in technology is Maya, because it is a very good software for animation, and modeling in Maya is also because the problems that will occur when transferring models between different software will be greatly reduced, This also facilitates the cooperation of various departments.

Plans and timelines

  • What is your timeline for the finalization of your project?
  • How will you test aspects of your project as you progress?

Week 4

Story Board

This week is for the storyboard. In fact, the storyboard should have been done from the beginning, but because this was originally the task of another member of our team, she left our team and went to another team, so this was not done. Then I didn’t realize it because I was doing animation all the time, so I didn’t realize that I needed to make a storyboard until the teacher reminded me. As a result, we had already done it later, and part of the animation had been done, but the storyboard had not come out yet. . So this week’s task is to do the storyboard.

The story has only the general mainline, and only the first part of the shot is divided, so I drew the already determined shot first.

Draft shoot

P1c1: Medium shot, camera panning to follow. The view follows the leaves as they drift down and finally land on the tip of the lance.
P2c1: Close up, camera fixed. The lance is awakened and activated, starting to shake and vibrate.
P2c2: Panoramic view, camera surround. Panoramic view of the lance as the whole lance is surrounded by the hostile aura of the soul
P2c3: Close-up, camera fixed. The heroine’s feet splash against the water as she runs past
P3c1: Panorama, camera panning to follow. The heroine runs towards the centre of the scene, right hand raised, lance in hand.
P3c2: panorama, camera pans to follow. Part of the heroine’s lance dance.
P3c3: Close up, camera pans back. Lance flying up ready to articulate the special scene.
P3c4: close-up, camera pans forward. The lance falls down to the memory section.
P10c1: Large panorama, camera pans back. The heroine takes a nap against the sacred tree with the lance in her arms, the camera keeps pulling back to show the whole scene.

Week 3

After searching the video I recorded about my cat Moqi, I found a very suitable video for my animation. There was a fly on my windowsill. Moqi saw it and felt curious about it, so she went to play. The fly finally flew out the window, leaving Moqi to lean over and lookout. This animation is very interesting. And in the end, the fly flew away and no one was hurt. It was a good time, about a minute in all.

Other videos to watch can be found on my YouTube page. Many are due to the length of time, or because some have interaction with tao, so there is no choice.

I have exported this video as a sequence frame and uploaded it to the network disk.
